The goal of prevention is to stop gambling problems before they begin or worsen. “Kid’s Don’t Gamble, Wanna Bet”, an evidenced based program is implemented in local schools includes to teach the risks of gambling, signs of problem gambling, and myths vs. facts.
Problem gambling treatment options in our Caring Choices Behavioral Health Clinics are aimed at individuals who are experiencing problem gambling or gambling disorders. This includes screening and assessment, as well as individual and group therapy. Medication therapy is offered in some cases and may help with urges and co-occurring disorders. Aftercare and relapse prevention includes ongoing support and monitoring and skills for managing triggers and high-risk situations.
Other local resources include a residential treatment option, family therapy, financial counseling, and support groups. Treatment options are confidential, easy to access, and often free to clients.
